Sharkey had put for the moment all thought of mutiny out of his head, knowing that no animal is fierce when it is over-fed, and that whilst the plunder of the great ship was new to them he need fear no trouble from his crew. He gave himself up, therefore, to the wine and the riot, shouting and roaring with his boon companions. All three were flushed and mad, ripe for any devilment, when the thought of the woman crossed the pirate’s evil mind.
He yelled to the negro steward that he should bring her on the instant(он крикнул стюарду-негру, чтобы тот тотчас же привел ее).
Inez Ramirez had now realised it all(Инес Рамирес теперь осознала все) – the death of her father and mother(и смерть отца с матерью) , and her own position in the hands of their murderers(и свое собственное положение в руках их убийц) . Yet calmness had come with the knowledge(однако с пониманием пришло успокоение; knowledge – знание; понимание; calm – спокойный ) , and there was no sign of terror in her proud, dark face(и на ее гордом смуглом лице не было и признаков страха; dark – темный, лишенный света; смуглый /о человеке/ ) as she was led into the cabin(когда ее ввели в каюту; to lead ) , but rather a strange, firm set of the mouth and an exultant gleam of the eyes(а, скорее, странное /выражение/ в очертании решительно /сжатых/ губ и торжествующе сверкающих глазах; set – комплект, набор; очертания, линии /тела/ ) , like one who sees great hopes in the future(как у человека, который возлагает на будущее большие надежды).

She smiled at the pirate captain(она улыбнулась пиратскому капитану) as he rose and seized her by the waist(когда тот поднялся и обхватил ее за талию; to rise ).
“Fore God! this is a lass of spirit,” cried Sharkey; passing his arm round her(как перед Богом! а девчонка-то с характером, – воскликнул Шарки, обнимая ее: «проводя руку вокруг нее»; fore /зд./ = before – перед; spirit – дух; состояние духа; храбрость ) . “She was born to be a Rover’s bride(она рождена, чтобы стать невестой пирата) . Come, my bird, and drink to our better friendship(пойдем, моя птичка, выпьем за улучшение нашей дружбы: «за нашу лучшую дружбу») .”
“Article Six!” hiccoughed the doctor(статья шесть! – икнув, /сказал/ врач) . “All bona robas in common(вся добыча поровну; bona robas /лат./ – похищенное имущество; in common – сообща, вместе ) .”
“Aye! we hold you to that, Captain Sharkey,” said Galloway(точно! мы заставим тебя поделиться, – сказал Нэд Гэллоуэй; aye – утвердительный ответ; to hold to – заставлять /кого-л./ сделать /что-л./ ) . “It is so writ in Article Six(так написано в шестой статье; writ /устар./ – прич. прош. вр. от write ) .”

“I will cut the man into ounces who comes betwixt us!” cried Sharkey(я искромсаю каждого, кто встанет между нами! – крикнул Шарки; ounce – унция /единица веса; = 28,3 г/; капелька, кусочек ) , as he turned his fish-like eyes from one to the other(переводя свои рыбьи глаза с одного на другого) . “Nay, lass, the man is not born that will take you from John Sharkey(нет, девочка, не родился еще тот, кто отберет тебя у Джона Шарки) . Sit here upon my knee, and place your arm round me so(садись мне на колено и обними меня вот так; to place – помещать, размещать; arm – рука /от кисти до плеча/ ) . Sink me, if she has not learned to love me at sight(утонуть мне, если она сразу же не поняла, что надо любить меня; at sight – сразу же; to learn – учиться; узнавать ) ! Tell me, my pretty, why you were so mishandled(расскажи мне, моя прелесть, почему с тобой так плохо обращались) and laid in the bilboes aboard yonder craft(и держали /чуть не/ в кандалах на борту того корабля; to lay – класть, положить; накладывать /одно на другое/; bilboes – ножные кандалы ) ?”
