Foreword Foreword The number of people suffering from impotence can hardly be given, because many have a big problem to admit this to themselves and act accordingly: The man feels like a failure, suffers from inferiority complexes and has great inhibitions about opening up to others (his partner, a doctor and even his best friend). But he is not the only one affected: The partner also suffers from this problem, she is involved, and it is not seldom she who finally urges the man to do something. Because impotence is by no means a problem that cannot be solved - quite the contrary: in the vast majority of cases there is a way to solve this problem! Health, psyche and partnership play the decisive roles that need to be addressed in order to solve the problem. This book discusses these three points in detail, all of which are interrelated.
Definition Definition Impotence (the so-called erectile dysfunction) comes from the Latin and means as much as not being able to, in this context: not being able to perform sexual intercourse. But only in the following sense: the ability to have an erection and to perform sexual intercourse is impaired, a physical function is disturbed. This does not mean a short-term disturbance, but a disturbance over a longer period of time. A distinction is made between two forms of impotence: Impotentia coeundi refers to what is generally understood by impotence, namely the inability to achieve or maintain an erection in order to perform intercourse. There is also the impotentia generandi, i.e. the inability to conceive a child. Ejaculation does occur, but the quantity or quality of the semen is not sufficient. Colloquially, impotence usually refers to erectile dysfunction. Not every form of erectile dysfunction must be equated with impotence. The time factor is decisive here. A chronic disease and thus a real impotence is considered to be a six-month continuous existence of the disorder.

There are some myths that can have a negative influence on one's own sexuality. They never die out completely, but continue to propagate from generation to generation - however wrong they may be!
In the following some important ones are listed.
A real man always wants and can
Masculinity is the same as potency - many men think so! If "it" doesn't work then they have a considerable problem, because a potency disorder makes a man a wimp! If you believe in this myth, it's not surprising that you withdraw with erectile dysfunction and do not want to open up to your partner or even a doctor.
Only a large penis can really satisfy your partner
The fact is: It's not the size of the penis that matters, it's what you do with it! Moreover: many women don't care about penis size. Empathy, tenderness and last but not least fantasy in sexuality are far more important to them!
Only when both partners reach their climax at the same time, everything is fine
Simultaneous orgasm is the ultimate goal for many men. However, it is important to remember that it requires a lot of concentration, which does not necessarily promote pleasure. It is well known that the needs during sex are different, and it is important to know the wishes and needs of your partner and to respond to them.
Only intercourse is real sex
There are so many varieties of sexuality! Take advantage of them and do not always limit yourself exclusively to sexual intercourse. After all, you can come to orgasm without it! There are no limits to your imagination. (Unless the wishes and needs of the partner are violated).
Sex is no longer for older people
Enjoying and experiencing sexuality is by no means tied to age. There are many older and old people who still have sex! And this does not in the least violate any social norms.
Impotence cannot be prevented in old age
Potency usually decreases with age, but there are still many men who were very potent until old age. Potency disorders can therefore also be treated in this phase of life! Counselling, diagnostics and treatment are all services provided by the statutory health insurance companies, only the medication has to be paid for by the patient.
What influences your potency?
There are numerous factors that influence potency. These are listed below.
Psyche
The psyche is primarily responsible for the man's ability to realize his sexual potential. If the psyche is disturbed, this often has an effect on his sexual life and his potency. Stress and sexual performance are related.
For example, occupational stress can have an effect on one's own sexuality. Of course, there is also sexual stress: fear of failure ("This time it has to work!") or the unconditional will to achieve maximum physical performance. Insecurity, lack of self-confidence, fears - all these trigger emotional pressure and lead to physical tension.
