Поднявшись на следующую ступеньку частичной автоматизации, машины третьего уровня — такие, как Audi с системой управления в плотном трафике, — способны при определенных условиях, когда все хорошо, полностью брать контроль на себя. Водитель должен быть готов к активным действиям, если машина попадет в непонятную ей ситуацию, но неотрывно следить за дорогой и автомобилем уже не нужно. Здесь можно провести аналогию с подростком, которому велели помыть посуду.
