When you begin to incorporate his penis and testicles into your attentions, start out with light kisses that are all soft lips and no tongue. Combine your kisses with other types of touch elsewhere, such as caresses and light squeezes with your hands; you can also press your face against his genitals to fully incorporate the action. Some men will be delighted if you run their penis over your face and neck, especially if it’s done with a sweetly salacious smile. The extra contact when you’re going down on him makes a big difference between “any old blow job” and getting head from someone who really wants him to feel good. Add long, languorous licks where his inner thighs meet his torso. Light, hot, focused breath on different parts of him provides a nice teasing touch.
If you’re feeling unsure about taking the first taste, run your closed lips over the shaft of his penis and the head. Inhale, moisten your lips, and try giving the skin an open-mouthed kiss, sans tongue. Taste your lips. He might be one of those juicy guys who produces a liquid called pre-come when aroused, and you may want to sample that flavor before you put him in your mouth. This is an activity for “fluid bonded” couples; read more about it in chapter 4, “Know the Hard Facts: Health Considerations.” Pre-come tastes slightly different from ejaculate; the flavor is generally light, but it differs from man to man. With a thoughtfully placed stroke, you can pick up a little pre-come on your fingertips and discreetly sample the way it tastes. If you don’t like it, you can use the opportunity of not yet having started fellatio to transition to another activity you feel more comfortable with.
Now you can invite your tongue to the party, if you haven’t already. While giving his crotch every other type of attention, you can gradually incorporate little licks or tongue flickers to his penis head, shaft, and base, his testicles, and where his scrotum meets his body, and you can lift his balls and lick his perineum. Use your hand to guide his penis into positions that make it easy for you to reach every spot, especially the sweet spots he responds to positively. He might really like being licked along the underside of the shaft, though he may prefer a spot at the base, up the center, at his circumcision scar (if he’s circumcised), or on the underside of the head. He may also like it all around the lower ridge of the head, where it mushrooms off the shaft, or at a particular point along that ridge. Some men really enjoy having their urethral opening (where urine leaves the penis, also called a “piss slit”) tongued and licked, though not all guys like this; you’ll have to pay attention to his reaction.
Stay hydrated! It’s no fun to go down on someone when you have a dry mouth, and giving head can be thirsty work. If you’ve been drinking alcohol, you’re going to get dehydrated faster than nondrinkers, but either way it’s a good idea to keep a glass of water nearby (if you can) to keep your kisser moist.
This is a terrific time to experiment and play with different tongue techniques. Again, it is highly recommended that you use your hands to guide his penis, adding the extra pleasure of fondling or lightly squeezing his balls. With your tongue, you can do the following:
• Flicker sensitive spots, such as those mentioned above. Flicker side to side or up and down, or give light taps.
• Press your tongue flat on the head.
• Point your tongue and give pressing strokes anywhere.
• Soften your tongue and slide sloppy trails everywhere.
• Give long, slow licks, as you would to an ice cream cone.
• Speed up the long licks, then slow them again.
• Hold your tongue stationary and run the head of his cock over it.
• Lightly lick his balls, or slather them with saliva.
• Gently suck one or both of his balls into your mouth. The popular term for this is tea bagging.
• Incorporate your soft lips (no teeth), and run your lips and tongue up and down the shaft, or over the head. Add a little suction if you like.
• If he’s uncircumcised, pull the foreskin back with your fingertips to kiss and lick him. You can also leave the foreskin in place and sweep your tongue around inside—but go easier than you would with a circumcised man, because uncut penises are usually more sensitive to stimulation on the head.
Watch his reactions to your focused licking and flicking. If he seems to be pulling away, then that spot might be too sensitive to what you’re doing: back off and move on to another area, or change your tongue technique to something less intense. But if he’s getting really hard, if his hips are beginning to thrust, you’ve got him right where you want him.
A penis piercing can change the way you use your mouth and hands, and you’ll want to take into account the possible differences in sensation for him. First, keep in mind that piercings are susceptible to infection throughout the healing period, so you’ll want to avoid oral sex until he’s done healing (two weeks is a safe waiting period), especially if you practice safer sex—your saliva can inhibit his healing, and you’ll be sharing bodily fluids, because genital piercings can bleed during the first twenty-four to forty-eight hours; beyond that, piercings can bleed for about a week during erections. Once the site is healed, a piercing is perfectly clean, just the same as a pierced ear. A piercing will make his penis more sensitive to stimulation, especially the specific area that’s pierced.
There are several different styles of piercings and jewelry that can adorn them, including steel or gold hoops or barbells. A Prince Albert piercing passes through the eye (urethral opening) and either downward through the head’s underside (most common), or upward through the head’s top (a “reverse”). Ampallangs pass horizontally through the glans and not through the urethra; several can be worn at a time. The Apadravya passes through the head’s ridge and can also be worn in sets. Experiment to see what types of sensation he likes on his piercings, if he likes any specific attention on them at all. Some men might like them flicked lightly with your tongue, gently tugged by lip suction—but some won’t want attention focused on the piercing at all, preferring to let the piercing add to the typical range of sensations in a blow job. Should a piercing come out in a heated moment, don’t panic—this can happen, and it doesn’t hurt. Just let him know it came out and ask him what he wants to do.

Using Your Mouth and Hands
When she was done teasing me, she leaned down, raised my cock slightly with the hand that had been teasing my balls, and took what felt like my whole cock in her mouth. No licking, no teasing, just one long slide into her hot, wet mouth. It was an incredibly erotic experience, partly because I was so horny, partly because of the contrast between her mouth and the cold air, and partly because it was so smooth and simple.
When you’re ready to put him in your mouth—and he’s really ready to be in your mouth—you have a few choices about how you want to switch your oral ministrations into higher gear. Either way, when his penis first makes contact with the heat and wetness that’s inside your mouth, he’s going to feel like he’s gone straight to heaven. Don’t be surprised if you get an appreciative gasp or moan.
Before you wrap your lips around his delicate member, know that the one major rule about blow jobs is to keep your teeth off the playing field at all times. It’s pretty easy to avoid having him hit your molars, but your front teeth (or any rough dental work) can turn an oral outing into a trip he’ll never want to take with you again. Even lightly and imperceptibly, teeth can scrape the thin and sensitive skin of the penis. Cover your front teeth by wrapping your lips over them. You can minimize any discomfort you may feel on the inside of your mouth by keeping your lips slightly tensed or pursed. It’s also good for comfort (and to vary the stimulation he’s getting) to keep your lips on the move. Vary the way you pucker, purse, and wrap your lips as you move him in and out of your mouth and alternate your sucking and kissing. A few men will like the sensation of light nibbling with your teeth or feeling them run feathery-light on their cock—but this is an activity that should be talked about before you try it. Many men will get nervous in all the wrong ways if you rub them with your teeth and they don’t want it.
