An EXPERIMENT with FALSE MEMORY:
Hand the test subject a piece of paper listing a very long number. For example, something similar to this: 164839244312673, 778241983711893. Tell the subject: «Please read and memorize this number. Once I take the piece of paper away after a few seconds, you will have memorized the entire number and can write it down.» Then take the piece of paper away from the test subject and say: «And now you are able to write down the entire number without errors just from memory.» Remember: Each suggestion must be canceled by a counter-suggestion.
An EXPERIMENT with FALSE PERCEPTION:
Tell the VP the following while handing him or her a peeled onion: «I am giving you here a nice, juicy apple! Eat it, you will love its taste and it's good for you!» The subject will think of the onion as an apple and actually eat it like an apple. A counter-suggestion is here not required since no effect continues after the action has been completed.
An EXPERIMENT with POST-HYPNOSIS:
You can also use a subject and post-hypnosis, an action that is to be carried out at a later time. Example: «Call me at 8 in the evening to tell me that you cannot visit me tomorrow. When I ask you why you cannot come, you tell me you don't have time!» Remember: All these experiments must have a clearly defined effective start and end of a suggestion. Never allow an effect to continue after the hypnosis without first canceling with a counter-suggestion.
The listed experiments were just a small excerpt from the many possible hypnosis techniques.

The dynamic moment during your exercises

When carrying out your exercises, try to develop a certain dynamic momentum. Use your whole body to express everything that you say to the TP. You must be able to demonstrate your control over your TP, just as an animal tamer demonstrates his control over wild animals. Your whole body, your eyes, your face, your hands, your bearing and even your breathing, must convey this control. Only in this way will you be able to force the TP's SELF out of the center of his/her consciousness when he/she is awake. Later, during the hypnosis experiments, it will no longer be as important, for the SELF will already have been deactivated by the hypnosis procedure. However, during suggestion exercises, the SELF of the TP always has to be forced out of the center of consciousness every time.

The core problem of the suggestion technique

The core problem of the suggestion technique is that videes are expressed in each individual part. More particularly so, because videes mainly involve verbal suggestions that are expressed in language. To overcome this problem, you have to learn how to animate your speech. When you say: “It draws you …”, then you must feel that the word itself is drawing you because it is so vivid. When you say: “You are calm!” , then this word itself must convey such complete repose that you can actually feel it.

Your words, gestures, actions etc. must always convey exactly those feelings that you want to express, and in such a way that those feelings can be felt by others. At the same time, you must pay attention to your gestures, movements etc. to ensure that they match your words exactly and that they clearly strengthen and emphasize your words. What has an effect on the TP, and what finds its way into the ideomotor system, are not the words or gestures, it is solely and uniquely the videes that are contained therein! You need to be aware of the full significance of this.

Videes are irrational and cannot be understood by rational thought. You can only feel and experience them. Try it yourself. Say the word “yes” aloud with the following meanings: agreeing – doubting – quietly and gently – happily – questioningly – definite and firm - confused - relieved - annoyed. You will immediately realize that each time you say it, it embodies and expresses a different videe, although the rational mind only hears the same word every time. What is important is how it is said!

Lesson 5

The fourth suggestion exercise

In this exercise, which you can carry out immediately following the previous one, the TP falls forward.

Stand the TP in front of you ( ill. 8) and say: “Close your eyes! --- Breathe deeply and slowly --- deeply and slowly --- very deeply and slowly! --- In a few seconds you will feel a force that pulls you forward --- further and further forward --- do not be afraid when you fall --- I will catch you --- it is pulling you forward --- you will soon fall forward --- it is pulling you more and more --- soon you will fall --- let yourself go --- it is pulling --- it is pulling more and more --- now you can hardly hold yourself up --- it is pulling --- forward --- now you fall --- you fall --- fall --- you FALL!”

Catch your TP again. Then say to your TP: "You feel very well --- you are wideawake and alert! You feel fine and well. The exercise is now over!”

What to do if hypnosis occurs during suggestion exercises

It can sometimes happen with good TPs that hypnosis proper occurs during suggestion exercises. In this case, simply say to the TP: “I am now going to wake you up. When I have counted to three, you will be completely awake and feel refreshed and alert. One --- two --- three! You are now wide-awake and feel refreshed and alert!” Please learn this wake-up formula by heart.

How to form suggestions with words

During the last exercise the TP had his/her eyes closed and your suggestions only consisted of the spoken word. When you have understood everything that has been introduced so far about videes, then such exercises will be easy for you to carry out. However, when doing so, please pay attention to the following:

1.Word suggestions must be clear and unambiguous.

2.Always adapt your voice to suit the intended effect.

3.Do not speak hesitantly or quietly, nor should you speak too loudly. Your voice must express self-confidence and self-assurance, and should also express the factors that are to have an effect on the TP.

4.Do not try to express only words or sentences. Express clear videes, for only these can have the intended effect on the TP’s ideomotor system.

5.When an exercise is over, do not simply leave the TP standing there. After every exercise, always say the counter-suggestions that have been given above: “You feel well. --- You are completely normal again. --- You are wideawake. --- The exercise is over!” Naturally, these statements are not fixed and can be extended and made more specific depending on the exercise. These statements must also include all the counter-suggestions for any special, additional suggestions that were given during the exercise.

6.The best way to practice is by trying to have an influential effect outside of the exercises, i.e. by speaking dynamically wherever you go and always trying to express videes. Remember one thing: PRACTICE makes perfect!

The fifth suggestion exercise

You can carry out this exercise immediately following the last two. For this exercise, use TPs with whom all the previous exercises have worked well.

Place the TP close to the corner of a room facing into the room. In this position the TP should receive the videe that something is leading the TP into the middle of the room. Then look the TP firmly between the eyes and say: “Look into my eyes. --- In a few seconds you will feel a force that pulls you forward --- further and further forward. --- So that you do not fall, you have to take a step forward. --- It pulls you further and further forward --- more and more firmly. --- Look deep into my eyes. --- It is pulling you --- it is pulling you forward ---“. ( When you notice that the TP is leaning slightly forward say:) “ Take a step so that you do not fall ---“ (at the same time take a step backwards slowly yourself, so that the TP can follow you.) “It is pulling you more and more --- further and further forward.” (Always take a step backwards slowly at the same time). “You are being pulled further and further forward,keep following so that you don’t fall! Further --- further --- further” ( ill. 9). (When the TP follows you, stop speaking and lead the TP only by your fixed gaze and by moving backwards slowly). “Now stop! You can stand still again. You feel extremely well.” --- (Then, at the same time, clap your hands and say:) “You are now wide-awake and can move again as you like! The exercise is over, you feel very well!”
