Word building

In previous units we have looked at common roots which connect words with similar meanings and at how these roots combine with prefixes to add to or qualify the meaning and suffixes which determine the part of speech. Many people learning Russian have difficulty in memorising vocabulary. It is often worthwhile breaking down a Russian word into its constituent parts as a way of making it more memorable or helping to decipher its meaning.
