"'Okay,' I said.
"Funny, the thought scarcely ever crossed my mind. The thought of fucking, that is. We had our own thing, Joey and me, and that was it. I was almost afraid to try something else for fear it wouldn't work and would alienate us somehow. That's how I felt then. Scared. But I didn't want to disappoint him. I'd have never disappointed Joey for any thing.
"My fear vanished, though, as I looked at Joey's deep, piercing eyes, then his ripe, virile body. I wanted to take his cock inside me, not so much out of lust as out of a desire to be close to him in a new way.
"I lay still and let him position my legs to best advantage. Then he bore down on me. There was something awkward about it. It occurred to me that he was less experienced at this. I put my arms around him reassuringly, then raised my legs over him, entwining them around his ass. My cunt was very wet, but it took a moment or so for him to drive his huge tool in it. I'm not sure why. It was as though he had trouble finding at what angle to push. There was a moment of awkwardness.
"At last we were linked together, the way I'd been with other guys before. Only Joey didn't start to hump me frantically. He stayed perfectly still with his cock deep inside me. Then he began stroking very gently. It was odd, though, big as his cock was, I scarcely felt anything.
"I tried to meet his slow thrusts by lifting my pelvis upward in rhythm with his motions. I found myself trying to grind my clitoris against him, trying to derive some sensation I just wasn't getting.
"I felt close to him, though, I remember that. There was something lovely about this, but really, something was missing physically. I wasn't turned off or disgusted, but I wasn't terribly hot the way I usually was with Joey. I'd been spoiled by the treatment he'd given me.
"Maybe he'd been spoiled, too. Instants later, He kissed me and crawled off.
" 'It was nice, wasn't it?' he asked.
" 'Yes,' I said. 'Beautiful.'
"So he hadn't intended to finish it, that was all. It was just an experiment. I was infinitely relieved. But I noticed that his prick wasn't hard and erect anymore. It had gone soft. I pretended not to see it, though, as he resumed the familiar position between my raised thighs.
"I'd never wanted his tongue more than at that moment. I had to know that the old magic was still there between us, that this hadn't spoiled it for us forever.
"The first touch of his tongue, though, was enough to bring me back to where I'd been before. I trembled as I felt the rough wetness of its meeting my clit. Gently, he licked at the tender, quivering flesh. I loved it. This was what I wanted, this and nothing else.
"I shook frantically as he swept his tongue downward to my gaping hole and back up again to where my clit was bulging and quivering. I spread my legs wide and let my clit really stick out so he could get at it. Briefly, he sucked at it, the same way I sucked his cock, but it couldn't stand much of that. It had to be treated so very gently.
"This was it, the thing that drew us together, the craving for what our hot mouths could do. Way back somewhere in my mind it seemed wrong to want it so desperately when we couldn't make it like you're supposed to be able to make it. I was hooked on this and so was Joey. At least we'd found each other and both of us understood. No one else need ever know, I thought."
In a society such as ours which demands on every level an ever increasing degree of uniformity, the individual is left with fewer and fewer means of free and natural expression. This trend is apparent in all sectors of the society-be it "hip" or "swinger" or downright "up-tight." From the cradle to the grave, we are taught to get along and get ahead; in short, to conform.
For the most part, our culture is city-based, highly sophisticated and rigid in its control over the individual. We are taught that we must justify our existence through the Puritan ethic of "work and save," in which one views his contemporaries more often as competitors, rather than brothers and sisters. We are taught to fit into the industrial machine long before we learn (if we ever do learn) the nature and implications of this technological age.
Psychologists have pointed out yet another factor concurrent with our system of values and economic priorities: overpopulation, a result, rather than a cause of the problem. Therefore, when we are speaking of the "modern life" we are really talking about machines and men, and a generation pressurized to a degree unknown in any previous epoch. We are talking about men who behave like machines.
In numerous experiments where rats are placed in overcrowded circumstances, the results have been significant, though somewhat predictable. The rats attempted to overcome their overcrowded situation by intensifying their pursuit of pleasure, what the analysts call "stimulation." One direction in which the rats sought to achieve this stimulation came in the form of violence, ritualized to an uncanny degree. They formed gangs or packs and roamed the rat compound in search of victims to destroy.
However, an even more deviant form of rat behavior was observed in their excessive sex play. Groups of male rats sometimes would "gang-bang" unprotected females. Thus the cycle of overpopulation and stimulation spirals dangerously upward, destroying in its wake the delicate balance determined through patterns of natural selection and the normal mating behavior of rat society.
The parallels existing between rat society and our own are, unfortunately, all too evident. However, it is important to regard the above example more as a parable than an actual cause-effect relationship. Man's violent nature as well as his sexual mores are far too complex to be explained merely in terms of overcrowding. Paul Ehrlich points this out clearly in his book. The Population Bomb:
… The year-round sexuality of the human female, the long period of infant dependence on the female, the evolution of the family group, all are at the roots of our present problem. They are essential ingredients in the vast social phenomenon that we call sex. Sex is not simply an act leading to the production of off-spring. It is a varied and complex cultural phenomenon penetrating into all aspects of our lives-one involving our self-esteem, our choice of friends, cars, and leaders. It is tightly interwoven with our mythologies and history. Sex in man is necessary for the production of young, but it also evolved to ensure their successful rearing. Facet number two of our bind-our urge to reproduce is hopelessly entwined with most of our other urges.
There probably has never been a generation in history which has been confronted with so many complex problems, all demanding immediate attention. It is, therefore, not surprising that this group of young people should attempt to find release in the only ways open to them.
In recent years, these forms of release have taken on the somewhat overused term "revolution." There is the so-called political revolution, the drug revolution, and, of course, the sexual revolution. What does it all mean?
Perhaps the widest implications of these revolutions (or, perhaps, the revolution) are simply that the old ways of doing things have led to stagnation and deterioration. There is a definite need felt by most sensitive, young people to feel in touch with natural or real life forces. In an age that would even consider plastic tree-lined streets, it is not surprising that many people seek real and natural human contacts, and that they run from the artificial existence created by the men and machines of the past, as though it were a plague.
Whether or not the sexual movement is really an answer to the problem depends upon your own personal, lay or professional outlook. The fact remains, however, that in our cultural jigsaw puzzle, sex and drugs provide the individual with some kind of extra normal sensation, a feeling of strangeness which transcends the artificial forms of entertainment so well organized within the Puritan background. As Dr. Ehrlich pointed out, the sexual urge is interwoven with many other urges, and one of those, no doubt, is to break with the past, and, for the younger generation, to break with the old taboos.
