But when the officer put his hand on her shoulder my thoughts changed. No, they scattered. Stalled.

“How did you learn to fight like that? You took down a guard twice your size in seconds.” His gaze dropped from my eyes to my lips, and if I didn’t know better, I would have sworn that knowledge was making him hotter, not cooling him off.
