Many squirrels took with themselves smelling salts, the most impressionable got the poison of fire toads, so that if they lost, they would be poisoned before everyone’s eyes, just not to see their shame.

Poisonous toads, who traded their poison for strawberries, were not fools either. The election rules were as follows: a candidate for ‘the most useful tail for society’ made a speech, then he demonstrated the benefit of his tail. The commission followed the rules. The central tribune voted, and people counted votes. Thus, the animals observed honesty and truthfulness of calculations.
