What is the Rosary? What is the Rosary? The Rosary is a contemplative prayer, that means, you concentrate on a specific theme from the life of Jesus and Mary for ten sections (in German called "Gesätzchen") at a time. In the initial phase, you'll still mainly focus on the text of the prayer. Later it will become increasingly easier for you to detach your mind from the text, and start contemplating it. So you let the biblical events pass by your inner eyes. Through the daily recitation of the Rosary you'll deepen these meditations more and more. You'll literally "grow into" the biblical events. The Rosary will become dear to you; you'll miss it painfully if you don't even have the opportunity to pray. The Rosary is like a bond that unites us with God. This band is round, like a loop. This prayer can also be a metaphor for our lives. The rosary is like a railing that we can hang on to, and always stay in touch with God.
