Намек на Эссекскую хунту федералистов, образованную в 1780-х годах. Группа, включавшая наиболее консервативных, сепаратистски настроенных землевладельцев-федералистов из округа Эссекс, штат Массачусетс. Ее глава Т. Пикеринг вступил в переписку с другими лидерами федералистской партии с целью склонить их в пользу отделения от федерации и образования северо-восточной конфедерации.
