12: Подземная механизация

Ряд изобретений, сделавших возможным добычу руды на большой глубине, расчистил путь для крупных технических открытий последних пяти столетий. Железная дорога, подземка, механический лифт, паровой двигатель, кондиционер, искусственное освещение, все это имеет свои корни в практике горного дела. Иллюстрация демонстрирует замкнутую автоматизированную систему, не нуждающуюся в рабочих, благодаря которой водяная мельница присоединяется к насосной системе для откачки подземных вод.
