3.1 Short Portrait of t he Island
Capri is an Italian limestone rocky island located in the Gulf of Naples. It is 10.4 km ² (4,015 sqmi) large and known for its numerous caves on land and sea. The highest mountain is at 589 m (1932,41 feet) the Monte Solaro. Other mountains are the Monte Cappello (514 m = 1686,35 feet) north of it, the Monte Tiberio (335 m = 1099,08 feet) on the northeastern tip of the island, the Monte Tuoro (266 m = 872,7 feet) in the southeast and the Monte Michele (262 m = 859,6 feet) on the northern edge of Capri town.
